Doctor or dental hygienist (EU)
Being a doctor in the Czech Republic means passing a language exam in the Czech language with at least B2 level knowledge, submitting a nostrified diploma, a statement of good character from the country of origin and proof of membership in a professional chamber. Slovak citizens who do not need to submit a nostrified diploma have an advantage.
Doctor or dental hygienist (non-EU)
The medical profession can be practised in the Czech Republic in two phases, under professional supervision in preparation for the certification examination and independently, if the doctor has already passed the approbation examination.
If the doctor has passed the certification examination in another EU country, if he/she has been working in that EU country for more than 3 years, it is sufficient for him/her to notify the Czech Ministry of Health of his/her hosting and to pass the language examination in the same way as EU doctors.
The dental hygienist passes an aptitude test in selected professional subjects and in the Czech language. It is possible to work under professional supervision in an accredited workplace until passing the accreditation exams or in a hospital for 3 years.
Other profession
If you are a healthcare professional from another discipline, a dental technician, physiotherapist, medical laboratory technician or pharmacist, it depends on whether you have a secondary school, higher vocational education or university degree.
In the case of higher education, the Ministry of Health verifies the competence to practise independently as a health professional, which means that graduates of EU medical schools only have to pass a B2 language exam.
If you were educated outside the EU, you must pass the aptitude test, even if you are a Czech citizen.
